Koinonia Fellowship Groups |
KOINONIA = Christian fellowship or communion with fellow Christians. To experience agape (Greek for a deep type of love) through fellowship is a cornerstone of our Christian faith. To properly share such love requires that you know that other person. To encourage such fellowship, we are forming Koinonia Groups that will be committed to meet with other Suncreek worshippers on a monthly basis, for an entire year.
Koinonia families who choose to participate will be randomly placed in groups of 6 families, with each family 'hosting' 2 monthly meetings this coming year. There's no formula for your gatherings: picnics at Stryker Park here at Suncreek, movie night for the latest Marvel Universe premiere, game nights with or without kids, or potluck at a backyard pool in Summer? The sky's the limit on what you can choose to do. The only "requirements" are to get together once a month to have a good, safe time and get to know each other more deeply.
We're going to kick off our Koinonia Group ministry on January 29 at our Fifth Sunday Lunch, answer any questions you may have, and then pull family names out of a hat for the random placement into groups. Each participating family must bring their calendar, so that by the end of this initial meeting, your Koinonia Group will have 11 tentatively scheduled meeting dates. We know that not every single participant will be able to attend each and monthly gathering, with vacations and other commitments, but we'd like you to commit to attend as many as possible, to maximize your exposure to your group members and get to know them more deeply.
We hope that you will take this opportunity to get to know your fellow worshippers a lot better, through these social gatherings and breaking of bread together on a regular basis. Please come out on Sunday, January 29 to get your questions answered and sign up to participate in this new social ministry!
