Weekly Devotional: Moments with Our Master

For Those Seeking " Strength To Change"

The Refining and Empowering Grace of God

The subject today is something that will really get you pumped up and ready to take on the world. Let's talk about your weaknesses.  Yes! Believe me - in God's view, your weaknesses are cause for a real, hopeful sense of God's presence. Your weaknesses are His strengths in the making. What are our weaknesses and where does His strength come from? Examples of weaknesses are: Fear and doubt, anxiety, gossip, sensual cravings, overeating, laziness, criticism, overspending, excessive debt, unloving attitude, pornagraphy, etc. And on and on! His strength comes from the supernatural power of the resurrected Jesus indwelling us.

The world may tell you to keep these things hidden inside where you can easily ignore them, forget about them, or hide them from others. The world may tell you to be ashamed. Yet when you reveal all your weaknesses to your loving God - when you acknowledge them - you'll see God doing His transformative work inside you, and you'll see those weaknesses rooted out and replaced with His strength.

The apostle Paul said "When I am weak, then I am strong." When we hide our weaknesses from God, ourselves, others and pretend to be strong, we are putting on a false act. Our human strength is nothing compared to the unlimited , loving, gracious strength available to us from our Father. Hiding our weaknesses is pointless, when He is waiting to fill us with His loving power and show us His strength.

Scripture: I Cor. 1:27 "God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong."

Meditate: We don't want to look full-on at our weaknesses, but doing so is worthwhile. Keep your eyes on the end result as He refines your character and increases your faith.
