In the first session, we addressed the misperceptions that were out there regarding the announcement of a new denomination on May 1st of 2022. In the subsequent conversations, we answer all the questions submitted from members of the church regarding what is going on in Methodism. Below you will find the statement that is read at the beginning of each of these Clarifying Conversations. It expresses our conviction concerning how we talk to one another in the congregation. "The church does not have the benefit of having “issues”. We have people. Real people who are beloved children of God who belong to our congregation and to our families. It is easy to demonize and ostracize the other when we think in terms of issues, of winning and losing, of needing someone to be wrong in order that we might be right. Low integrity politicians get that privilege, the church does not." |
