I was so proud of Suncreek at the food bank! We listened to our directions and then absolutely everyone just jumped right in and started working! We had people there of all ages and everyone pulled their weight! I was so impressed. Wherever there was a need, someone helped out. Suncreek provides so many opportunities to serve our community, and we were glad to help with this effort! It was great to connect with members we already knew and also meet new friends, all the while helping to clean up the neighborhood. - Deb & Rob Vallo

It was a large group that helped with the Elmwood renovation and a diverse one, too. With close to 30 men, women and kids of varying ages, we all seemed to go about the different tasks in great harmony. Working side by side, the painting was done in no time. The construction experts stepped up to the task of repairing the damaged wall, and, as a team came, up with a plan and executed it tout suite. In the meantime, several of us were admiring a large collection of trophies that had been on display in bygone years and were now neglected and just gathering dust. So between coats of paint we "decorators" went to work dusting and arranging this bit of Elmwood history. We were delighted, too, when we discovered a collection of vintage books that at one time had been part of the church's library and so they became part of the display. At one point a couple of us decided to take a break and head downstairs to check out the fall craft festival. While there we struck up a conversation with the Historian of EUMC so we told her about our admiration for the rich history of her church. She shared some photos and anecdotes with us and in turn we came to appreciate this institution even more. To see the senior members that have called Elmwood their church for many decades minister to the community alongside Elmwood's Hispanic families was a blessing.

Suncreek left Elmwood with a space that was vastly improved but it was much more than just material enhancements. Our act of love and caring was an affirmation that we are all on the same journey no matter where we live. The journey of being hands and feet for Christ. - Janice Baldwin

This was our first experience participating in building a wheelchair ramp. I was impressed that the crew had visited with the family ahead of time so that when we got on site we assembled a ramp that was already partially built. My teenagers got to experience use of power tools and producing a finished product that they helped build. Larry, our crew leader had a great sense of humor and explained how to do the tasks then let the crew do it them themselves. This gave our crew a sense of pride. Thanks for letting us serve this family, it was great to meet them and see how happy they were to have a new ramp. - Kim Helgeson
